Job Purpose
The role of the Senior Graphic Designer is to produce industry leading creative and coordinate the development and design of a wide range of graphic material, involving a variety of integrated steps and processes. The position requires extensive knowledge of specialised, multi-faceted design concepts and media. They will create original graphic design and comprehensive layout concepts and oversee and coordinate production of artwork and print.
In This Role, You Will
- Conceptualise, plan and design, a wide range of specialised graphic, typesetting and/or illustrative material.
- Have the ability to write and edit basic copy and headlines.
- Work with Group Business Units to ascertain their needs and to develop graphic directions, concepts, and specifications for assigned projects.
- Plan production schedules for the various steps in the design process; analyse basic project development costs, be able to participate in production and/or marketing planning group sessions and meetings.
- Identify, select and coordinate vendors for printing and publication services, as appropriate to the project; may write and process requests for proposals for printing projects; identify and recommend contractors, such as printers, illustrators, photographers, and/or cartographers.
- Oversee and coordinate the production process; develop and write printing and/or other production specifications, and select appropriate production media and materials, such as ink and paper; inspect proofs for accuracy and adherence to appropriate production standards.
- Provide creative and technical advice and guidance and serve as liaison with production personnel, authors, publishers, clients, and/or printing representatives on design and technical graphic issues.
- May coordinate a graphic or photographic library and/or maintain digital records.
- The ability to supervise and/or train lower graded staff and trainee employees.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
